Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the whole story, our special short form episodes that we are calling the draft, where we will get together either me and Jonathan, or we'll have a series of guests on from time to time where we draft different things from different themes or topics in the world of golf. We'd love to hear your opinion on these things. Uh, we did one on best snacks at the turn, and today we are talking about the best animal logos. We're doing a draft of the best animal logos. If it's just two of us, we'll end up with 10 picks. Uh, if there's more, maybe we'll we'll figure it out. So five each. We'll go back and forth in a snake draft style fashion. Uh, Jonathan, how are we going to decide who goes first here?

Well, I've got a T, if everyone doesn't mind listening to a T bounce around in the background.

As a uh as it should. Yeah, flip a T. Let's do it.

All right, here we go. Oh, it started with me. It went to you. It went to me.

You get to go first? I get to go first. Okay. I I'm gonna start. I I think just uh, you know, this one means a lot to me, but I'm I'm just gonna, you know I'm gonna do it. I knew you were, that's why. I'm going Old Barnwell. Of course you are. Yeah, I'm going the owl with the owl at Old Barnwell. I think it's an incredible logo. And yeah, that place means uh means a ton to me. And if anybody knows, uh yeah, yeah. We love we love all the people there, but it does have a great logo. So uh my my number one draft pick, Old Barnwell, the owl.

That was gonna be my number one pick as well. Actually, I might have loved it just for fun. But yeah, it was definitely gonna be number one. All right, so this might be recency bias, but I'm gonna go with the Triceratops at Fossil Trace. Nice. Yep. Out in Golden, Colorado. If you get a chance, make sure to go check that out. And then in the true fortune of a snake draft, I get another try here. Um, I like the seal from the hay uh out of Pebble Beach. I like that one a lot. I think that'd be fun. It does make me worry a bit, sort of like alligators on a golf course. I don't know if they actually have them on the golf course because you're not allowed to touch seals, so they can become problematic, but yeah.

You think there's a bunch of seals running around that golf course?

I don't know, but if you're ever seals will actually try to uh if you're if you're down like in cabo areas, stuff like that, they'll jump on boats and sink them because you're not allowed to kick them off. It's illegal to touch them. Really? Yep.

So that seems like it'd be a problem. All right. Hey, great, great logo, and it seems like it'd be an incredible course as well. Yep. All right. Uh my next one, I am going with Maidstone. Old school logo. Are you familiar with that one? The whale.

Yes, you took my one of my.

It's such a good classic, like you know, you know logo. Like um, never played there, so I have nothing with that logo on it, but I would love to have a hat, a shirt, something with the Maidstone logo on it. That way when somebody says, What's that? you can say, Oh, it's it's Maidstone. I've played there. It's Maidstone. It's Maidstone. The whale. Great, great logo. Old school, like simple little drawing that iconic. Um, I guess my next one. Oh man. Um I'm gonna go with gosh, I I I'm torn between this. I you know what? I think because I know so many people that are members there and that love this place, I'm going to Goat Hill Park.

I think I think that's such a cool logo, just how it's designed. I, you know, one that I think the hang is probably even better than than the golf. I think the golf's incredible from what I hear. But I think the hang, again, we know so many people there, and it's just it's a sweet logo. So I'll go Goat Hill Park.

It's a good one. Uh my next choice is gonna be Mammoth Dunes. Nice. Always a good one.

And um I just talked, I just talked with Brandon who played there um recently.

Oh, that's right. Yeah. And then this might be a stretch, but there is an animal involved, but I'm gonna stay with Rodeo Dunes, a little bunking Bronco, uh sitting out there. So I like it. I like both of those options.

Yeah. All right. Um my next one, I think, for this is our eighth pick here, is I'm gonna go Kapalua, the butterfly. The butterfly. With, and I'm sure I looked at this logo a billion times, and I think it was, I don't know, a couple years ago somebody pointed out the pineapple hidden within the butterfly. And I think that made it even even more uh special to me or cooler to me. Just the I love the I love a simple logo that has hidden meeting. Uh never been to Hawaii. Uh, I would love to go play there sometime. Sad to see that they lost their uh PGA tour event, but we'll go Kapalua. And then my next one, gosh, there were so many. Uh my next one, and I just think this is fun. I'm going with the frog from Dukes. You familiar with that one?

Yes. That's all right. It makes my number 10 pick easy because I that was the one of the last two I was choosing from.

All right. So what's your uh the frog? It's cool, right? Like we talked before. There's not a there's not a ton of great, great courses over uh in the UK. Um, and I think this one is a really cool one. So that uh going with Dukes.

Well, this makes my last decision easier because you stole three of my five. So uh I'm gonna go.

Maybe we'll trade at some point. Uh I'm gonna go with the Sea Dragon at Monterey Peninsula.

Nice. That's a uh a classic logo. We were just talking with uh with somebody about that. Uh how cool, uh how cool logo. We learned learned a little bit more about it. So uh any any honorable mention, any shout-outs that you want to throw out there that were not in your draft?

Oh, uh Waterbill, though. Did I already say the rabbit? No, I didn't say the rabbit. I like the Rabbit Ritz.

No, you didn't pick it. You didn't pick it. You you had mentioned something before about it. Uh Waterville is cool.

I like that one a lot.

Yep. Um a couple on my list, Stonewall, the cow. Have you seen that one? You need to look up, look up Stonewall. Uh I like the White Bear Yacht Club.

White Bear Yacht Club? Yeah.

Look look that one up. And then uh a couple more, the park down at West Palm, the little parrot with the hat. Yep. You know, the one that the course down there that we want to play, but uh it's always busy and super expensive uh for a Muni. And then the shout out to the Fields Club. I know Seth McQuer did that one, the uh the uh donkey there.

I saw Yeah, I was looking at the puffin. So which again lends me the question of are there actual puffins that are on site? Because you're not allowed to go near those things as well.

Uh if you would take yeah, here's here's a rule like any draft or any kind of rankings list, like if you say, hey, this needs to be in there, you've got to pick one that comes out. So give us uh give us your answers. Again, we will throw these within ChatGPT to get its analysis, and we'll put that on the blog because I just think that's funny to see what AI says about all this random stuff. So anyway, that's it. That's uh another episode of the whole story uh draft. What we need a good name for this thing. What are we gonna call it? The draft? I don't know, the whole draft. The draft well, still the whole story.
